Добрый день, мои дорогие, сегодня в три часа дня я получила от Вас две открытки, которые пишут Аня и Гришук. Я была очень счастлива, но вместе с этим до слёз огорчена случаем произшедшим в воскресную ночь. Очень жалко кошки которую уже почти выростили и вообще не всего что украдено. А вот здесь с этими крадежками…

Context

A glimpse of daily life in occupied Kyiv: someone broke into the family’s home on a Sunday night and stole their cat (nearly full-grown) and other possessions. Raisa, reading about this 2,000 km away, is “upset to tears.” The theft is a reminder that while her letters focus on farm routines and parcels, life in Kyiv under German occupation meant poverty, scarcity, and crime.
